How To Hide Wig Wefts

Honestly, as much as we love hair wefts, the point is that no one knows you're wearing them. That's why it's so important to make sure your wefts are hidden so your extensions blend seamlessly into your natural hair. If you're new to hair extensions or can't clip them in, we've rounded up some of our favorite tips for concealing the wefts of hair extensions. These tips will make it super easy to get a seamless blend so no one will know you're wearing a hair extension…

1. Don't pinch them by the roots

Instead of clipping extensions at the roots, place them about 1cm away from the split ends. This will ensure that your weft is flat on your head and that no bumps will leak your extension. It also ensures that the clips have enough hair to grip so they can hold your hair very securely.

2. Leave enough hair to cover them

In order to fully cover your hair extension, you need to leave enough hair on the extension. That's why we don't recommend cutting your wefts above eye level so you have enough hair to sit on. It's also worth checking the back of your hair in the mirror, once they're all clamped in as if any wefts are showing, you'll need to move them further down.

3. Back Comb the Top Hair

On a windy day, your hair will part and it may expose the top of your weft, so it's worth brushing the top hair to make sure you're covered. All you need to do is lightly tease a small section above, which you clip into the highest weft to hold the hair together. This will prevent it from coming apart so your clip will be hidden underneath.

4. Use a spray

Since hair extensions don't have roots, they can contrast with your natural regrowth if your hair is sectioned. To blend the top of the weft into your own hair, you can use some root grooming spray to create faux roots. This will allow your extensions to blend seamlessly into your natural hair at the top, so no one will notice the disconnect if it's part.

5. Make sure they are safe

Nothing reveals the fact that you're wearing a hair extension like a weft thread slipping through your hair, which is why it's so important to keep them safe. Before you clip them in, you'll comb your hair at the roots so the clips have more to grab onto. This is great if you have fine hair as it also helps to add some extra volume and you want to secure it with some hairspray before cutting in your weft.
