Hair System Maintenance: 3 Ways to Care for Your Hair Knots
You've probably heard of toupee knots before, but have you ever wondered what they're used for and why they're so important? In order to prolong the life of the hair system, proper care of the knots of the toupee is crucial.

The reason why knots are so important to your hair system has to do with how they're made. The hair is combined with a lace toupee base with a number of nubs that are essential for hair strength and hair durability. Each hair is carefully knotted to the root so it stays attached to the root. You can see these knots on the hair piece by parting the hair at the root. You'll see many small black dots - one at the "root" of each hair, each a knot in the wig. There are many ways to extend the life of wig knots. Here, we'll cover our top 2 tips.

1) Do not use bleach:
You may also have heard of people bleaching toupee knots for a more "natural" look. However, the harshness of bleach can weaken toupee knots and extend the life of the hair system for years. Bleach is a very strong chemical, and if used incorrectly, it can damage your hair system—from lace to all-important knots. For this reason, we strongly advise against bleaching your hair knots.

If you feel compelled to bleach your hair knots, be sure to consult a professional stylist. Experts can bleach your hair knots with minimal damage to your human hair system. But remember, no matter what you do, bleaching your knots will always damage your human hair toupee.

2) Take care of your hair system:
When considering what to do with hair knots, it's important to acknowledge that general toupee maintenance will benefit toupee knots. It is always a good idea to keep your hair system clean, conditioned and free of adhesive build-up. If you allow dirt and adhesive to build up on your toupee, you can damage your wig knots and your toupee.
